Problem

Ahead of the retirement of its Legacy Administration Manager, Marie Curie Cancer Care asked Legacy Link to provide a range of services to help recruit a successor and to cover any vacant period before the successor was in place. The charity has a high level of legacy income and complex cases and would need a sure hand. At the same time, the legacy administration role would be moving to the Fundraising Division, a new responsibility for the department head.

Solution

Legacy Link was able firstly to advise on questions for the interviews, aimed to cover a wide assortment of complex issues. We then provided assistance through two Consultants, to cover the gap before the new post-holder arrived; at the same time we made recommendations for changes and enhancements in procedures and policies for him to consider. We also worked to deal with a backlog of reviews.

Following the arrival of the new post-holder, one of the Consultants stayed on during the first few weeks, to help train and to provide assistance as the new incumbent found his feet.
