Thanks to everyone that took the time to submit an application. We received over 120 applications across the three bursary categories, and are now busy reading through them all to create a shortlist. These will be submitted to our independent panel of judges to pick our winners, and will announce these at the ILM Conference on 12th May.
Our mission is to help charities grow with legacy giving.
As part of our commitment, we have set up the Legacy Futures Bursary Awards, aiming to invest in the future talent that will take our sector forward.
In 2020 we launched the Legacy Futures awards to reward and recognise those working in the legacy and in-memory sector. We believe in the power of legacies and want to help our community flourish and felt that there was no better way to achieve this than by investing in the people who will be taking our sector forward.
In 2023 we refining our awards programme to focus on the areas that we know are most valuable to the sector – developing the people who support and grow the impact of the legacy sector.
This year we have three bursary award categories:
- The Crispin Ellison Bursary – furthering professional development in legacy administration
- The Future Leader Bursary – a mentoring pathway for those new to legacy or in-memory roles
- The International Bursary – supporting organisations outside the UK who want to grow through legacy giving

Whether you are new to the sector, or looking to make the next step in your legacy giving journey, there is a bursary award for you.
I hope you apply and good luck!
Ashley Rowthorn, CEO Legacy Futures
